I am very happy that I chose this "colander"; especially, after store shopping and seeing the other colanders that were available in major dept. stores, and the ones that I looked at on line.  This Roma Colander is the best one that I could have chosen.  It is perfect for straining macaroni, etc., and for rinsing vegetables and fruit; it has a fast and good drain.  It is very easy to clean, and it is classy looking too.  This is not for rice.  I do not think a colander is for rice straining.
